Splitting Membership Fees

Splitting Membership Fees with National/State PTA or any other Organization

To properly split membership fees with National/State PTA or any other organization, you can follow these steps:

  1. Create “National PTA Membership Payable” and “State PTA Membership Payable” liability accounts in your chart of accounts. These accounts will be used to track the portion of membership fees allocated to each organization.
  2. When creating a deposit transaction, assign the appropriate portion of the membership fees to the respective liability accounts. This ensures that the fees are accurately recorded and allocated to National PTA and State PTA.
  3. When a payment is made to National PTA, create a withdrawals transaction. Debit the “National PTA Membership Payable” account to reflect the payment made to the organization.
  4. When a payment is made to State PTA, create a withdrawals transaction. Debit the “State PTA Membership Payable” account to reflect the payment made to the organization.
